The answer is simple Sis. It sounds like your video display mode is set at its simplest settings (640x480). To correct this try the following.
Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, then Display.
Next select the Settings TAB along the top of the dialog box. Then adjust your Screeen size and colors as needed and click Apply.
I recommend 1024x768 pixels and no less than 24 bit color. But be sure you are at at least 800x600 and preferably greater than 256 colors.
That should clear you up.
